Looking for ways to make a pool party epic for your kids? Then pick a theme and dive right in! Themes always make a pool party more fun. You could have a Hawaiian luau theme, with a rousing game of limbo and leis for party favors; a nautical theme with blue “pool water” punch and blue “beach Jello” decorated with tiny umbrellas – is fun; or have a “sweet splash” with inflatable donuts and cupcakes in the pool and all sorts of great sweets for serving!

Remember thematic decorations and serve cool food that adds a splash of fun…like dip and chips, with a little sign on the dip that says, “Take a Dip!” Or serve colored licorice and call them pool noodles. Have a slider bar with condiments served in cupcake tins, fruit skewers and colorful freezer pops.

Great games can raise your party up another level. Consider flip flop decorating (self-sticking jewels are great for this), edible sand art (use powdered candy and clear plastic cups), or simply toss a handful of coins in the pool and have the kids dive for treasure! You can even dial it up another notch and rent a giant inflatable water slide or have a photo booth with silly props like oversized sunglasses and snorkels and fins. Squirt gun stations are the coolest. Just keep a bunch of squirt guns floating in a tub of water, so that they are easy to access and easy to fill…just in case they are needed. You can even give a squirt gun to every kid for a party favor as they arrive. I don’t care how old you are, squirt guns are fun!
