The Standard In NSB Pool Care For Over 18 Years

How Often Should You Really Service Your Pool

Lots of things can ramp up the need for pool cleaning and service, like our environment, including the amount of foliage surrounding your pool; storms, which can increase the debris in our pool water as well as the risk of pool water chemical imbalances; and lots of swimmers loaded with contaminants, such as lotions and bacteria. So how often should we really service our pools?

For residential swimming pools, service at least once a week during your peak swimming season is recommended – with more frequent pool maintenance during times of heavy usage. During off-season and only if your swimming pool is infrequently used, two to four weeks between maintenance may suffice.

To prevent algae growth and equipment damage and to maintain an overall healthy swimming environment, pool service should include water testing and chemical balancing, the brushing and vacuuming of pool walls and bottom, as well as surface skimming for debris. Periodic equipment checks are also very important.

Whether or not you are a do-it-yourselfer who prefers to take care of your pool service on your own, it is also a good idea to schedule maintenance and a thorough inspection by a pool service professional at least twice a year. This should include pump and filter inspections and can prevent any issues you might not be able to detect from becoming much bigger and costlier issues.
