First-off, you’ll want to skim your pool water daily to keep it free of insects and any fallen foliage. Additionally, with our high temperatures causing evaporation and storms wreaking havoc with pool chemicals, it is also good practice to keep a keen eye on water levels and balance, especially during the summer months and times of high pool usage.

Every week, brushing, vacuuming and emptying skimmer baskets should occur. Florida’s year-round high UV and temperatures can deplete chlorine levels. So, weekly chemical adjustment is a must as well, and elimination of debris and pool chemical rebalancing should follow any significant rainfall.

It is also a good idea to shock your pool pretty regularly here in Florida. Every couple of weeks during peak season is usually a good rule of thumb to thwart the growth of algae and bacteria and facilitate a clear, sanitized swimming environment.
